Please Note: My adventure onboard the Celebrity Summit Cruise Ship took place at the beginning of February 2019 This post has been revamped and revised to look awesome. For more awesomeness, check out our “Lifestyle” section.
Day 14: The Final Day Onboard
As the Celebrity Summit sailed down the deep, blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the clear skies were coated with white, puffy clouds. I’m 110% sure this is what Heaven is.
Finally, we’ve reached a day of rest. As much as I love traveling and being on the go, it was nice to just unwind. A day at sea means that it’s the perfect day for maximizing all of my meals. You better believe I took advantage of any and all buffets. Today, I will discover that I have a stomach fit for a champion! (I get it from my dad.)
Let’s Check Out the Spa Cafe
At lunch, we decided to check out the Spa Cafe. They offered a variety of healthy options. Freshly squeezed juices and smoothies were also available for purchase. The portions were small though, like really small. To put it in perspective, I grabbed a plate of everything and was still starving. Mind you, the food there was delicious!
My dad’s not exactly the whole “let’s do yoga and eat kale” type, so as my mom and I were having a taste of the good life, my dad sat there in disgust. He also sat there grieving all the buffet food he wasn’t eating. Luckily for him though, I wasn’t full from the portions so we stopped by the “normal” buffet to satisfy the beast and so we could have lunch #2.
Cafe al Bacio onboard the Celebrity Summit Cruise Ship
Right before another show with December ’63, we decided to see what Café al Bacio had to offer. My dad lucked out more than he probably ever has. The lady serving us accidentally gave him two pieces of chocolate cake instead of one. On top of that, he also had a gourmet hot chocolate. I’m also surprised he didn’t enter a coma or anything. I settled for a cappuccino and a chocolate chip cookie. Although, I did regret not having 2 cookies (1 pre-coffee and one after-coffee). The dessert display was the fanciest thing I’ve seen. What really caught my attention though (and my heart), was the fact that… ALL THE DESSERTS WERE FREE! Yep. They are all included.
After tea time (yep, I’m not missing that either, Hello meal #5!), us two hooligans decided to check out the casino. I put in $5 and ended up making $15. I am not a gambler by any means. My strategy is to push buttons because I have no clue what I’m doing. My dad also put in $5 and ended up with 94 cents. He ended up giving it to me, and within a matter of seconds, I turned that 94 cents into $7.50. Ironically, he’s the financial advisor, so I think I may have given him a run for his money.
Unfortunately, due to a lovely visitor called anxiety, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy and relax. Knowing that I had to fly home tomorrow and spend the majority of the day at the airport was pure hell. Although, the Sachertorte I had for dessert definitely helped to soothe and change my focus (temporarily). This is another dessert that I highly recommend and it’s also one of my top favourites! For those unaware folks, it is a decadent chocolate cake made with apricot preserves. Don’t knock it til you try it!
