Welcome to the Daily Happenings at Canuck Kitchen. I’m trying something a little different this time.
My page engagement has taken quite a hit recently, and I haven’t been able to post as much. I’ll be creating shorter posts, even if that means they might not rank in Google. I’d like to have more website engagement and maybe even gain some readers.
These posts will just be about what’s going on in the daily life of Canuck Kitchen. I’ll feature things I’m up to, products I’m digging, places I’m checking out, etc.
My Oatmeal Hack
I’m trying to eat healthier so, I’ve added oatmeal to my breakfast lineup. I won’t lie, I don’t like it that much. I’ve been trying to jazz it up, and now, I look forward to my oatmeal mornings.
Start adding a small amount of chocolate chips and mix it in. The oatmeal will still be warm, so the chocolate chips melt, and you have chocolatey oatmeal.
I’ve also started adding spices and other toppings. Fruit, honey, maple syrup, and cinnamon go a long way. Pumpkin pie spice mix and white chocolate chips are also a great combination.
Energy Bites
I used to make energy bites all the time, but it’s been a hot minute. Energy bites are quick and easy to make. They also require minimal ingredients with stuff you probably have anyways.
It’s best to use rolled oats or old-fashioned oats, but all I had on hand was quick cook steel-cut oats. It still worked, but rolled oats are definitely much better.
I used 1 1/2 cups oats, 1/3 cup of honey, 1/2 cup of cashew butter, and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. They came out great! I can’t stop eating them. You can mix and match combinations. Instead of honey, you can also use maple syrup. If you don’t have cashew butter, you can use almond butter or peanut butter. Any kind of nut butter will work. If you have a nut allergy, I’ve heard that sunflower seed butter is a great substitute.
Energy bites are a great snack. They’re kid friendly and perfect for on the go adventures.
Flavoured Green Tea
I’m an avid green tea drinker. I’ve started buying flavoured green teas, and they’re incredible! They’re flavourful, and I don’t need to add any sugar or honey. I highly recommend you give them a try.
They’re available at most grocery stores.
Laura Secord Café Latte
My mom found these at Dollar Tree, and I haven’t been able to find them anywhere else. I’ve only seen them around Christmas time as a gift set. The portions are small, about 3/4 of a cup, but they’re so good! They come in two flavours: regular and vanilla. I was surprised at how creamy and flavour rich they are.
Keep in mind that it is an instant sachet. It definitely won’t taste like a premium café latte. They’re still awesome for something that’s just instant.
Clearance Cookies
I went to pick up a package at Rexall last week. Ironically, it was a goodie package. I still had to buy more goodies, though. You can never have enough.
These cookies were on clearance, and obviously, I grabbed some. The package says they’re from Italy, and they definitely taste European. They are the perfect blend of a crunchy cookie and a creamy chocolate hazelnut filling. It tastes like my childhood.

I don’t know how I would rate this article but I will give a five star rating for the energy balls. I was skeptical at first but I try everything and they are just so tasty. They should come with a warning label “highly addictive” in my humble opinion.
