Woohoo! Lucky 13. I have quite a few things I’d like to cover in this edition of the Daily Happenings, so let’s get to it. Let’s dive into my latest project, a lovely trip to the Kaiser Haus, and my latest obsession, again, Font Coffee Bar.
New and Exciting Things at Canuck Kitchen
It sounds like fun fact time. Back in 2024, I had this idea that I wanted to write a cookbook. There is a lot of time, effort, and dedication that goes into written publications, and it didn’t come to fruition, so I never ended up doing anything with it.
Fast forward to the spring. The month of May brought on a spark of inspiration, and in July, I dug up some of my old notes and decided to move forward with it after all. Although I find a physical book to be much more intimidating, I decided to get started on an ebook instead. Plus, I feel like nowadays, people are more inclined towards digital material anyway.
That being said, I plan to whip up tons of new content. I more than likely won’t be posting any new recipes on here, aside from the Borrowed Flavours, which I love to do from time to time. You can read more about that by clicking on the link here
. I’ll also still be doing the Daily Happenings, because they’re pretty quick to write and produce. My goal is to have some viral recipes and beloved favourites in the ebook and a ton of recipes that will only be available there. It makes it exclusive, after all.
I always love hearing feedback. So if there’s anything you’d like to see in the ebook, or have ideas for interesting flavour combinations, please send me a message!
The Kaiser Haus in Tranquil Port Dalhousie
I have many fond childhood memories in Port Dalhousie. From the nostalgic Canada Day carnival to the Oasis Cafe Ice Cream that used to be on the corner of Lock Street, the area is memorable and holds a special place in my heart.
Port Dalhouse has all the happenings in the summer, and it’s a busy place anytime the sun is out. Venture around and you may spot The Kaiser Haus, an adorable eatery located on one of the bustling Main Streets in this lively St. Catharines community.
The best description that I can give the Kaiser Haus is tiny, but mighty. They are the true textbook definition of quality over quantity. Although the dining room is small, the place is dressed up to the nines, and the cozy atmosphere is inviting. It’s enchanting, alluring, and in a prime location in Port Dalhouse, what’s not to like? The decor is really captivating too; it’s like an elegant fairytale.

Kaiser Haus Menu
The menu is geared towards delicious meals with European flair. They offer a little something for every palette. (Yes, that includes the picky pants in your party as well.) I’m not sure if they switch out the menu, but the current list includes Hungarian Goulash, Swedish Meatballs, Potato and Leek Soup, and a Smash-Haus Burger. If you’re visiting with little ones, they don’t have a kids menu, but the food is really kid-friendly. Let’s be real for a second, a schnitzel is essentially just a giant chicken nugget pancake. Carbs are always the answer. Bavarian Pretzel, Parm Wedges, and Kettle Chips are a solid choice for any age.
I ordered the Schnitzel with Spaetzle. What kind of German would I be if I ordered something else? Am I right? It was absolutely delectable. You can tell that Kaiser Haus uses quality ingredients. The schnitzel was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the red cabbage and spaetzle are the perfect pairing. The portions are huge, and I ended up eating three times from it, so it’s money well spent.
Now onto my favourite part, dessert! The Sacher Torte hit the spot as usual. I had this onboard a cruise ship a long time ago and have been hooked ever since. It was really chocolatey, and it’s difficult to finish the entire piece in one sitting.

Huge Shoutout
I’d like to take a moment to give a huge shoutout to my parents for the invitation. Actually, they just deserve a massive shoutout in general. My mom has been super onboard with these posts. She’s even crafted up her own list of places for me to try. Plus, it’s nice to have her as a foodie companion, too. I’d like to thank my dad for passing down his love and passion for the culinary world to me. I also have very fine-tuned taste tastebuds for cake because of this man. If you didn’t read my Puerto Rico post. This man could sniff out a Ben and Jerry’s in a literal jungle of palms by the waterfront. (You can read about that magical adventure here if you’re interested.) He’s my hero and is an absolute expert when it comes to restaurants and all-inclusives. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Fonthill Coffee Treasure
I’m not sure what the exact quote is, but apparently happy people tell a friend and unhappy people tell 10 people. Something like that. Anyways, that does not apply to me. If I find a spot I love, I will tell everyone. Seriously, I don’t shut up about it. Ask anyone.
Yes, you guessed it. I’m more than happy to bring up Font Coffee Bar again. This place is amazing with all the comforting vibes. Also, I’m slightly addicted to the Butterscotch Caramel Latte. It’s the perfect way to kick start the weekend. Sun, nature, and all the coffee. I also grabbed one of the S’mores cookies, because why not?
If you haven’t tried this absolute gem, I highly recommend you do. I’m beyond excited for the fall menu to come out soon. I’ve also covered Font Coffee Bar in my last post, which you can find by clicking here.

Until Next Time
Thanks for sitting through another edition. Hopefully I’ll be back soon with more delicious adventures.
