Welcome to another edition of the Daily Happenings. It’s been a hot minute. For those new here, the Daily Happenings are just things that are going on in my life right now. I might blog about an awesome product I found, a quick recipe, or my latest foodie adventure. These posts are very casual and I’m more focused on audience engagement rather than Google Rankings. Plus, it’s kind of cool to be up close and personal with you.
On today’s edition, I’ll be taking you on a journey to Maverick’s Donuts. This donut shop opened up in my area in the springtime, and I’ve finally had a chance to check it out.
Well, Well, Well, What Do We Have Here?
With it’s blue and white colour scheme, Maverick’s stands out. It’s bold and fun. They have an incredible selection of donuts, ranging from classic favourites to seasonal bites.
The classic collection consists of standard picks, like chocolate dip, cinnamon sugar, honey glazed, and the works. If you’re interested in the fancier ones, the variety will vary from store to store. The Maverick’s location I visited had Oreo Nirvana, Pecan Pie, and Blueberry Fritter, just to give you an idea.
Maverick’s does Birthday, Anniversary, and even Wedding donuts. If you have an event, party, or just because, Maverick’s has delicious eats for you.
Get Your Caffeine Fix
When I checked out their website, I saw they have coffee there too. Which is a given since coffee and donuts are a magical combination. I was expecting they have a basic coffee and tea selection, but I was pleasently surprised.
Not only was I able to order a latte, but I also saw they had a variety of flavoured syrups on the counter too. I didn’t see a drink menu anywhere in the store, so you’ll have to ask what’s available. But from what I saw, they have a variety of teas, and you can order more than just a coffee.
The latte I ordered was delicious! Lattes taste different everywhere I go. Sometimes, they’re crafted to perfection. Other times, they’re heavy on the milk, or taste bitter. I’ve had good lattes and bad lattes, but thankfully, Maverick’s makes a good one.
Finally, the Donuts
I ordered the Caramel Crunch donut and the Hot Cocoa donut. Before anyone comes at me, I didn’t eat these in one sitting.
I’m not sure what kind of rating I’d give it. There was quite a bit of whipped cream on them, and I felt it overpowered the donut. I’d definitely go back to try a different flavour to see what it tastes like. I know they get a lot of hype and have tons of positive reviews, so I think I’d enjoy the other ones.
Looking past the whipped cream, the donut itself was awesome. It was soft and pillow like, as donuts should be. I loved the little crunchy bits on top of the Caramel Crunch. It added a nice texture and extra flavour.
I also like the fact they have boxes as opposed to bags. I’m sure we all can relate to the Tim Hortons drive through when you order a donut and majority of the frosting sticks inside the bag.
Overall, I’d probably give them a solid 4/5. I think if I check out the other varieties, it would be closer to a 5/5. I do understand the hype though, as everything looked delicious and the variety of flavours is incredible.
The donuts were awesome. Excited to try some of the other.
