The last Daily Happening’s post was in May, so I guess I didn’t experience any more “happenings”. Sorry! That’s about to change today with a trip to The Watering Can.
Summertime is finally here. After a long eight months of winter, I’m so beyond excited to see sunshine and feel some warmth on my skin. I’m trying my best to savour these very short 2-3 months of summer because then it’s already back to winter again. I hate Canada.
Anyways, I had an absolutely delightful experience on July 19th at The Watering Can in Vineland. I didn’t even know this magical piece of paradise existed. Special thanks to Darleigh and Gloria for the invitation and the incredible day out.

Onwards Towards the Magic at The Watering Can
The day started with being in absolute awe at how massive and beautiful this place is.
What made me really happy was the pricing. I’m so used to casually browsing the selection at grocery stores where a plant costs $30 and upwards. It was nice to see simple items like a small pot of roses, African violets, and sunflowers for under $10.
I ended up picking out a beautiful lavender plant. That morning, I was reading a witchy book and read that lavender is good to have around the home as it cleanses the area of negative energy. I figured it was the perfect plant to bring home.
We Built up Quite the Appetite
My eyes grew wide for the plants, but they grow even wider when it comes to food. I get that lovely trait from my dad.
The lunch menu was small, but all of the choices sound incredible. I had a tough time deciding on just one. Thankfully, everyone was ok with sharing so I had the pleasure of trying a few different things. We were famished, so we dug in a bit before taking a photo of the delectable food we were served.
The Dip Trio consisted of three awesome dips (roasted vegetable, artichoke asiago, and red pepper hummus), naan bread, and pita chips. My favourite was the Chicken Asiago Flatbread which was a beautiful blend of roasted chicken, bacon, caramelized onions, arugula pesto, and artichoke asiago. Last but not least, the Mediterranean Focaccia Bread was built to perfection. Layers of roasted tomato, green olives, sweet pepper, pickled red onion, and whipped feta. Drizzled on top were balsamic and tzatziki.
Coffee and Desserts at The Watering Can
This is where my heart is. I already scoped out the selection of baked goods as soon as we passed it.
It was a tough decision considering they had tons of succulent options. Their menu changes seasonally, so I’m extremely excited to see what’s in store during the fall. (My favourite time of year because it’s the return of the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte.) There were rows of cookies, cakes, squares, bars, and cheesecakes. I gave the crinkle cookie and the Twix square a nice, loving home.
As for coffee and tea, they have an extended selection with some seasonal tastes as well. As soon as I saw there was a Cinnamon Vanilla Oatmilk latte, my decision was finalized. I’m normally not a fan of milk alternatives in my coffee, but I’ve recently grown extremely fond of oat milk.
That story was a perfect example of a happy accident. During the winter months, I headed to Starbucks to grab a caramel latte. I’m not sure what happened, but my drink got mixed up and I ended up with an oat milk latte. After that day, I was hooked. I have no idea who messed up, but thank you, seriously. Oat milk is my new favourite and it also makes my skin happy too.
(In My Best Arnold Schwarzenegger Voice) I’ll Be Back
I was thrilled to have an amazing experience. It’s been a while since I’ve been out and it’s definitely been a hot minute since I’ve had a fancy latte. The outing was much needed and I will be back to buy more plants! My goal is to be the mysterious witch lady down the street with all the plants.
The Watering Can sounds like an amazing place! – a fellow plant and food lover 🙂
